This is the RETS Change Proposal Process as defined by the Standards Committee and approved by the Board of Directors. The dates in this version reflect the timeline for the upcoming August meeting. Any changes targeted for approval at the August, 2008 meeting must be submitted to the Standard committee by June 9th.
Step 1: RCP 1st Draft Submission
· Draft RCP submitted to Standards Committee via email (RESO-standards committee@googlegroups.com)
· Draft RCP constructed using template provided on rets.org
Timeframe: no less than 60 days prior to next Trimester meeting (by June 9th, 2008)
Step 2: RCP 1st Draft Review
· 1st Draft RCP is reviewed by Standards Committee and the workgroups
· RCP is either accepted or returned to the submitting workgroup as incomplete, full calendar, collision with existing RCP, suggestions to improve the content.
· Should the 1st draft generate no comments for rework, process moves to step 5
Timeframe: no less than 50 days prior to next Trimester meeting (by June 17th, 2008)
Step 3: RCP 2nd Draft Submission
· Changes made to RCP draft following Standards Committee comments and resubmitted
Timeframe: 40 days prior to next Trimester Meeting (by June 27th, 2008)
Step 4: RCP 2nd Draft Review
· 2nd Draft RCP is reviewed by Standards Committee and the workgroups
· The 2nd Draft RCP is voted on by the Standards Committee to progress to the next stage of review or returned to the submitting workgroup as "rejected" or for "rework"
· 2nd Draft RCPs designated for rework will be considered for subsequent trimester meetings
Timeframe: 30 days prior to next Trimester Meeting (by July 8th, 2008)
Step 5: Accepted RCPs posted for general review
· RCP is posted to www.rets.org/content/rcp_review
· Notification of posting is sent to Executive Director (Myron Adams)
· Executive Director sends announcement of posting with request for comments to RETS- announce
Timeframe: 25 days prior to next Trimester meeting
Step 6: RCP is discussed in the open forum attended by the RETS General Assembly
· Pending the outcome of the discussion the Executive Director may request a participant to call for a vote and a second
